About this playlist
This playlist gathers the quieter corners of downtempo: the tracks that were never meant for the front of a record. The mood settles early and stays low. Drum programming sits behind the beat, with hi-hats that feel more like breath than pulse, and bass lines that move slowly enough to hear the room around them. Electric piano and muted horn lines drift in from nu jazz and acid jazz, carrying a softened, slightly frayed warmth. Trip hop textures appear as crackle, tape hiss, and vinyl wear, while jazz funk grooves surface only briefly, like a memory of something brighter. Reverb is generous but never washes out the center, so each sound keeps its edge. It suits a dim room, a long train ride after midnight, or a quiet hour when.
