Sisley Conversation 002: Dark Trip Hop Night Mix

About this playlist

This selection drifts through low-lit rooms where trip hop keeps one hand on the brakes. Sustained pads hang in the air like heat off pavement, while downtempo drums land soft and late, leaving space for bass to bruise the silence. Nu jazz and acid jazz surface through warm Rhodes-style colour and loose, human swing, then dissolve into the hypnotic four-on-the-floor pulse of Chicago house. Vocal fragments arrive as shadows rather than statements, pushed back into the reverb tail so they read as mood rather than message. Tempo stays unhurried, the mix sits close and dry in places and cavernous in others, and the emotional climate is nocturnal and unresolved. Best played late, low, and loud enough to feel the sub in the floorboards. Sequence it as a slow descent, with each transition arriving before you notice the change.
